OASE BioTec ScreenMatic² Filter Sets
BioTec ScreenMatic 145000 Filter set includes:
- BioTec ScreenMatic 145000² Pond Filter
- AquaMax Eco Expert 26000 Pump
- Bitron ECO 240 UV Clarifier
The OASE BioTec ScreenMatic² 145000 Set is a complete, semi-automated pond filtration system designed for larger ponds. This set includes the efficient BioTec ScreenMatic² 145000 filter, the AquaMax Eco Expert 26000 pump, and a powerful Bitron Eco 240 UV clarifier. Tailored to accommodate varying pond sizes and fish stock densities, this advanced filtration system optimizes water turnover to effectively manage algae, debris, and dissolved impurities, ensuring clean, clear, and healthy pond water.
The BioTec ScreenMatic² 145000 filter system features an automated waste screen that captures organic debris down to 300 microns. A sensor triggers an automatic cleaning cycle when sufficient waste has accumulated, removing debris to a collection tray. Below the screen, 18 graded filter foams provide extensive surface area for biological filtration, and the system's 14.5kg of zeolite media further reduces nutrients and dissolved gases.
Powered by the AquaMax Eco Expert 26000 pump, this system maintains high turnover rates through the filter. The Bitron Eco 240 UV clarifier attaches directly to the filter inlet and includes a self-cleaning rotor, flow bypass, visual indicator, and a control panel with digital temperature display. The UV unit efficiently targets algae as water enters the system, supporting a healthy and balanced aquatic environment.

Recommended Pond Volumes
When setting up your filtration system with a filter outlet positioned approximately 1 meter above pond water level and using around 5 meters of 1½" diameter hose, the following pond volumes are recommended. These recommendations apply when the filter is used with the Bitron Ultraviolet Clarifier (UVC), ensuring effective algae control and optimal water clarity.
- Ornamental Ponds (without fish): Suitable for large pond volumes as water clarity needs are the primary focus.
- Moderately Stocked Ponds (up to 1 kg of fish per 1,000 liters): Achieves an ideal turnover rate for effective filtration while supporting a balanced pond ecosystem.
- Heavily Stocked Ponds (including koi, up to 2 kg of fish per 1,000 liters): Designed to maintain high water quality for fish health and pond clarity, with a higher turnover rate to handle greater waste levels.

Pond Turnover Rates: The recommended turnover rate for your pond is based on stocking levels, which helps determine the ideal pump flow rate:
- Ornamental ponds (without fish): Circulate the pond volume every 6-8 hours.
- Moderately stocked ponds (up to 1 kg of fish per 1,000 liters): Circulate every 4 hours.
- Heavily stocked ponds (including koi, up to 2 kg of fish per 1,000 liters): Circulate every 2 hours.
The BioTec ScreenMatic Set pumps are designed to compensate for flow reductions due to filter foam buildup.
Pump Flow Rate: The required pump flow rate, typically measured in liters per hour (lph), is influenced by the vertical lift from the pond surface to the outlet and friction losses in the system. To minimize these losses, always use the maximum hose diameter. Keep in mind that friction across filter media will increase as waste builds up, impacting flow rates over time.
Effect of Raising the Filter: Elevating the filter, such as for a waterfall, reduces the pump’s flow rate, which slows circulation through the filter. This could reduce the pond volume the system can effectively manage, possibly requiring a larger pump. Contact us for advice on optimizing your setup.
Importance of Regular Maintenance: High flow rate ensures efficient filtering, but as filter media captures pond waste, friction loss increases, lowering flow rate and filter effectiveness. Keeping the filter foams clean is key, and this is made easy with the automated-clean function of OASE BioTec ScreenMatic filters. Regular maintenance will help sustain ideal water conditions for your pond.
